There are more than 1,000 CRMs out there, but only a very small number are true self updating CRMs 🧠.
In this article, I’ll show you what a true self updating CRM is, why other CRMs don’t invest in that aspect, and which ones are the self updating ones. I’ll also cover the upcoming ones 🔍.
Ready? Let’s go 🚀.
The 2 BEST & Truly Self-Updating CRMs (TL;DR) | ||
|---|---|---|
Most CRMs can “self-update” using workflows… but that’s not what people actually mean. A true self-updating CRM is an AI-native CRM that updates leads, deals, and tasks by default, with zero (or near zero) setup. ✅ A real self-updating CRM can automatically:
🧠 Why are there so few? 🥇 Top Self-Updating CRM for SMB sales teams: Breakcold
⚠️ Breakcold downsides: fewer native integrations than HubSpot + no custom objects yet (coming Q2 2026) 🥈 Top Self-Updating CRM for larger companies: Clarify
⚠️ Clarify downsides: email-only, limited pipeline flexibility, pricing can get expensive fast, very few integrations 🚀 Other “future contenders” exist (Day AI, Attio evolving), but today, only Breakcold + Clarify are truly viable “real self-updating CRMs.” | ||
What is actually a self-updating CRM?
A self updating CRM is a CRM that updates itself, easy right 😄?
Well, not so much haha. From a technical standpoint, almost every CRM can be a self updating CRM thanks to CRM automation features, notably CRM workflows you can find in softwares like Pipedrive or Close.
However, is that truly what people have in mind when they talk about self updating CRMs? Are they looking for a CRM they need to configure for hours, if not days, for it to self update? NO.
If we look at Reddit and other forums online where people are looking for a self updating CRM, what they actually mean is an AI native CRM that, by design, without any or barely any setup, updates itself 🧠. That is what a self updating CRM truly is.
Self updating CRMs are usually able to:
Create deals automatically
Create CRM tasks automatically
And much more
So how many CRMs are truly self updating ones? Not many 📉.
Why is there so few self-updating CRMs?
Being a true self updating CRM means that, at your core, you are AI native and the CRM is designed in a way that it requires little human input to automate the CRM 🧠.
Most leading CRMs in the space are decades old. They have an old architecture that revolves around CRM automation workflows with trees of decisions and more. Because of the Innovator’s Dilemma, they cannot innovate and switch to something modern super quickly ⚙️.
That’s why Pipedrive, Close, HubSpot, Nimble, LessAnnoyingCRM, and even more recent CRMs from 2017 like Attio are not true or entirely self updating CRMs. If they say they are, they’re probably lying 😅.
This leaves us with only new and modern CRMs that can truly be self updating CRMs 🔍.
In this article, we’ll focus on the two most robust ones, because the other ones are still being developed or haven’t even launched 🚀.
Self-Updating CRM #1: Breakcold - The AI Native CRM for Salespeople
Breakcold is an AI native CRM for salespeople, specifically sales teams.
It's a self-updating CRM as it requires no setup for the CRM to update itself or very little if you want to achieve advanced workflows.

Pros
Here are the pros of Breakcold CRM.
No setup for the CRM to be self-updating
During onboarding, Breakcold asks you a few questions about your business and your sales process 🧠. Once you reply to those questions, the CRM knows enough to automate itself without you having to set up anything.
Just by how your CRM lists, custom fields, CRM tags, and sales pipeline stages are named, the CRM is able to update itself ⚙️.
For advanced automations, where you want the AI to obey specific rules, you can give clear instructions to the AI. In this case only, there is some level of configuration, but it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes by playing with Breakcold’s AI playground ⏱️.

Auto-task creation, auto-deal creation & auto-lead movement
Breakcold creates tasks automatically for you so you never miss a follow up ✅.
Depending on your lead’s activities, deals are also created automatically, and leads move to the right lists as well 🔄.
Depending on your personality, you can pick in one click an AI CRM agent that fits your style, so you don’t waste any time on setup for the CRM to be self updating 🧠.
Self-updating AI summaries of lead activities
Every time something new happens with a lead like a new conversation or meeting, an AI summary is generated or regenerated so that you can see at a glance what is the status of a lead without digging its activities in detail.
Built-in Meeting Recorder to self-update leads based on meeting activities
Just by connecting your Outlook and Gmail account, Breakcold’s native AI note taker and meeting recorder will automatically join your sales calls 🤖.
From there, transcripts of conversations will be generated 📝.
It also generates a meeting brief before each call 📌.
With the information automatically logged in the lead, the AI summaries and other features will then work together so that the CRM keeps updating itself ⚙️.

Auto-detection & merge of duplicates
Automatically, duplicates are detected and merged 🔁.
It’s not possible to make it work 100% of the time though ⚠️.
It only works when there is a unique identifier, like an email address or something similar, to reconcile duplicated leads. Otherwise, the CRM will suggest potential duplicates but won’t auto merge them 🧠.
Multiple channels supported
Breakcold, compared to traditional CRMs, supports multiple communication channels 🔗.
Beyond email, Breakcold supports calling, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Telegram 📞.
That way, Breakcold acts as a single source of truth, so the self updates of the CRM are much more accurate 🧠.

Cons
Like anything, Breakcold also got cons.
Lack of native integrations
Breakcold has 20+ native integrations but compared to Pipedrive or Hubspot with their 500/1000+ integrations, it's not a lot.
Fortunately, thanks to Zapier/API you can still integrate Breakcold to 5000+ other softwares.
It has custom fields, but no custom objects
Custom objects are coming in Q2 2026 at Breakcold but in the meantime a con is that there won't be self updates on custom objects, only on custom fields.
AI can still be improved
The AI to self-update the CRM is working perfectly but you're still limited in the sense that the AI agent that you pick for example is linked to the whole team and it'd be great that if each team member got 1.

Self-Updating CRM #2: Clarify- The AI Native CRM for large companies
Clarify is AI native CRM that is aiming for bigger companies than Breakcold as it raised more than $23 million in its early days. They're competing with Attio and therefore need to go after large companies whereas Breakcold is focused more on SMBs.

Pros
Here are the pros of Clarify:
Self-updating CRM with no setup like Breakcold
Like Breakcold, Clarify is also a self updating CRM with very little setup 🧠.
Depending on your leads’ activities, Clarify is capable of auto creating deals and tasks, as well as moving leads automatically inside the CRM 🔄.
You also get good meeting sync capabilities with a built in AI note taker 🎙️.
Finally, unlike Breakcold, there is no advanced mode where you can control the CRM updates, which can be both a good and a bad thing depending on the type of customer you are ⚖️.

Flexible Pricing system
Clarify’s particularity is its pricing 💰.
They don’t charge per team member. It’s unlimited 👥.
What they do instead is charge per AI credit consumed. For example, recording a meeting might cost 30 credits, etc ⚙️. You get 5,000 credits in the $20 per month plan, and then you need to top up your plan for more credits 📈.

Easy navigation
Clarify’s navigation is a breeze. It’s very lightweight 🧠.
The dashboard is sleek and powered by AI. It updates itself with all your tasks and upcoming meetings ⚙️.
It’s pretty easy to understand how Clarify works 👌.
Cons
Here are the cons of Clarify:
Lack of channels supported
Clarify only supports email at the moment 📧.
If the goal is to be a great self updating CRM, you need to be a single source of truth 🧠. Not syncing all types of interactions prevents you from having all the information required to move leads correctly inside the CRM.
So yes, it can be a deal breaker for some people ⚠️.
Poor flexibility Pipelines & accounts
You cannot build unlimited pipelines, you’re limited to one ⚠️.
This was done to limit the number of scenarios the AI has to handle to move deals automatically into the right pipeline. However, it can be limiting for teams with different sales pipeline processes 🧠.
You also can’t connect multiple email accounts per team member (you can on Breakcold) 📧.
Finally, it’s not designed for agencies handling multiple workspaces, but that’s normal because it’s not Clarify’s target user 🎯.

Pricing can be deceiving
I won’t explain it one more time because I already covered it in a lot of detail in this article 🧠, but Clarify’s pricing might sound cheap at first, and when you dig deeper it can actually become pretty expensive 💸.
You don’t really have a way to estimate how much Clarify will cost you before using it.
My best recommendation is to go into their billing and do an estimate using their credits system to understand how much it will cost 📊.
Lack of native integrations, even less than Breakcold
At the moment of this writing, Clarify has fewer than 12 native integrations, and some of them haven’t even been released yet 🔌.
They have a few integrations with HubSpot, but they’re still missing many key ones to properly plug their self updating CRM into a full stack of tools ⚙️.
That said, it’ll probably grow rapidly 📈.

Are there any other viable alternatives to Breakcold & Clarify as Self-Updating CRM?
Viable no, but there are some alternatives that are coming on the market like Day AI or CRMs like Attio are step-by-step adapting their CRM to become fully self-updating.
Except those 2, they are no other potential viable self-updating CRMs that can become or are TRUE self-updating CRMs.
